Artists Statement:

I am in awe of the beauty and variety found in the natural world and most often that’s where my images begin. Then I apply my interpretation with the computer, after which the origin of the resulting image may be easy to tell or difficult to discern. In the end, it’s less important to me how an image is born or shaped or what it may or may not resemble than if one finds it somehow visually pleasing or interesting.

About the Show:

The name for this show “Ready For Love” is a statement of the condition of a flowering plant. Since we’re speaking of plants “sex” may be a more accurate term than “love”, but the decision to use “love” instead of “sex” was made in order to avoid any hint of sensationalism in promoting the show. That said, the flower is the sexual organ of the plant and this show will contain a number of images derived from flowers. I also expect to include some imagery of another kind of flower: the human female.

Artists Images:

It is not unusual for people to ask me if my images are paintings, watercolors or photographs. It can be difficult to tell since some are vivid, some pastel; some printed on fine art cotton rag paper, others on canvas, while others yet appear to be on fabric but are not. Regardless of the substrate I choose for an image I believe that it should be lasting and not fade, so I print my images on superior archival substrates using advanced pigmented ink technologies after which they are treated with a protective coating. The materials I use have been tested for permanence by independent researcher Wilhelm Imaging Research (wilhelm-research.com). My prints should last generations with no noticeable fading or color shifts if given proper care. They are fine art Giclée prints in the best tradition, suitable as gifts, wall decor in your home or office, or additions to your collection.

Artist Background:

Formerly on the Board of Directors of Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area where I garnered many blue and gold ribbons in print competitions and won the award for Best Photographer of the Year: Unclassified Category, I’ve been involved in photography and other forms of artistic expression spanning a period of more than 40 years. In recent years my interest has been mostly in creating images of flowers, females and families.
